"Overture" is eerily reminiscent of Nick Rhodes composition, "New Religion" definitely a similarity

One of my earliest purchases the great double vinyl Oil on Canvas! Sadly I never saw them live as I was only just a teenager. Having played a little bass guitar I searched out the bassist bought a fretless and loved the unique technique (and doesn’t he make it look effortless?) of the late great Mick Karn what a talent he was -RIP. The guitarist is also amazing as are the rest of this unique band

Simple one of the best groups live. Saw them many times and never disappointed. RIP Mick

As a 61 year old ex-punk I look back at some of the bands I regret not seeing. . Japan are right up there at the very top of my list. . RIP the amazing Mick Kahn.

Way ahead of their time, their sound was so unique back then, and still does sound so unique today. Mick Karns bass playing is from another planet, so distinctive, he was absolutely gifted. They should be right up there with the best of the best. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 and they were definately a huge influence on Duran Duran.

I like some of Japans music but most of it does nothing for me and David must have styled his hair in a Thatcherite inspired moment. They were there and have their place in history.

Saw them in concert in 82 in Brighton I was 15 and I still love the music
